Coin Street Community Singers

A fun, community based singing group for over 50’s

Meeting Mondays from 7-8 PM (currently virtual)

About the group

Coin Street Community Builders is a social enterprise located in the heart of Waterloo. The organisation started in response to the increased commercialisation and gentrification of the area in the 1960s. A community action group formed and created a plan that put community facilities back at the heart of the area. In 1981, the group bought 13-acres of the Southbank from the Greater London Council and carried out their plan through the creation of parks, housing, community facilities, and local shops.

Now, Coin Street Community Builders offers a wide variety of community programmes that encourage creativity, enterprising, and learning. One such programme is the group Coin Street Community Singers. The Community Singers is an Over-50s group that meets every week to sing, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company. The group sing a wide variety of repertoire and also enjoy writing their own music.

“Bethany brings out a lot of joy in our singing sessions. She has such a caring heart and a beautiful voice. Bethany has encouraged me to develop my own skills which I love. I have also learnt how to appreciate musical theatre styles. You will never go wrong when you are singing with Bethany. She makes me valued and respected within our group.”
